Step 4: Decide Your Topic
What would you like to work with Kin on?
If you’re not sure what your topic should be, ask Kin. It can use its knowledge of you to suggest areas you might benefit from discussing.
Step 5: Provide Context
Start by giving Kin relevant background information to the support you’d like. This helps Kin understand your situation and provide more personalized responses.
Your feelings are important pieces of context for Kin. Don’t leave them out!
For example, instead of immediately asking "How can I be more productive?", try:
"I'm a marketing manager working remotely, and I'm frustrated that I’m finding it hard to stay focused with all the distractions at home. I particularly struggle in the afternoons when my energy dips." |
Step 6: Be Specific About Goals
Tell Kin exactly what you’d like to achieve with its support. Clear objectives lead to more useful responses.
Focus on one goal at a time—it’s best for you and Kin to deeply explore feelings and solutions around one thing at once!
Instead of "I need career advice", try:
"I'd like help preparing for my performance review next month. I want to discuss a promotion but I'm not sure how to demonstrate my value." |
Step 7: Share Your Preferences
Let Kin know how you'd like information presented, and what kind of support helps you best.
If you aren’t sure what your preferences are, ask Kin! It can use its knowledge of you to suggest what may be best for you.
For example:
"When giving me advice, I prefer practical steps I can take right away rather than theoretical concepts." |
