How to Use Your Focus Areas

But how do they work? Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step One: Select Your Focus Areas

  • You’ll need to identify up to three Focus Areas where you think you need the most help.

  • The current Focus Areas are:

    • Conflict Resolution

    • Work Confidence

    • Relationship Building

    • Communication Skills

    • Stress Management

    • Imposter Syndrome

    • Time Management

    • Networking Skills

    • Planning & Organizing

  • Go with your intuition here. Which do you feel most drawn to?

Step Two: Input the Selection into Kin

  • Launch the Kin app on your device.

If you’ve not used Kin before:
Step Three: Complete Onboarding

  • You’ll be asked to identify your Focus Areas as part of the onboarding questions.

  • Just follow the prompts.

If you’ve used Kin before:
Step Four: Review Your Focus Areas

  • You’ll be able to see your Focus Areas on your Home page after launching Kin.

  • You can change them at any time by tapping on them, and reselecting them in the following menus

Step Five: Build a Plan with Kin

  • Using either the Chat or Journal feature, provide Kin with as much detail as possible about how your Focus Areas affect your day-to-day life, both at work and at home.

  • Using the Chat feature, ask Kin to help you plan actionable tasks and goals for improving on these Focus Areas the way you would like.

  • When you’ve created goals you’re happy with, it’s now down to you to do the work.

Step Six: Check-in Regularly

  • Return periodically to tell Kin about what’s working in your plan, and what isn’t.

  • Work with Kin to make adjustments as necessary, and follow them as best you can.

Step Seven: Track Progress

  • From the Home page, select a Focus Area from the Focus Area section.

  • From here, you can see how much you discuss each Focus Area with Kin, and how much progress you’re making with it.

  • Use this information to ensure you’re talking to Kin about all your Focus Areas equally, and to see whether you might need more help working on a particular Area.

Step Eight: Adjust Accordingly

  • Using the Chat feature, ask Kin how your long-term progress has developed, and what large-scale changes should be made.

  • Do this periodically for the best results.
