The reason Kin has haptic feedback as a default setting is that it enhances the user experience by providing tactile confirmation of actions, improving accessibility, and generally making interactions more engaging and intuitive. How do I turn on/off haptic feedback (vibrations)?

At Kin, we believe your data is yours only.<h3 id="riqx3xs3f4f" data-toc-id="riqx3xs3f4f">Data is only stored on your device</h3>Y.our data is only stored on a local database on your device. We have no cloud database with user data. This guarantees that no employees of Kin, or anyone else, can access your data and it minimizes the risk of data being hacked or leaked to nearly zero.<h3 id="oaym7fix4ow" data-toc-id="oaym7fix4ow">Uses local ML models when possible</h3>We leverage local models that run on your device when possible, like our embedding model, which gives excellent performance, but also ensures your data stay on your device.<h3 id="ddra65p06ac" data-toc-id="ddra65p06ac">We use trusted LLM service providers with zero data retention</h3>Kin uses powerful LLMs (like Llama 3.1) that cannot yet run on-device. For LLM inference, we’ve teamed up with <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="link" href="http://Fireworks.ai">Fireworks.ai</a> and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="link" href="http://Together.ai">Together.ai</a>, two trusted service providers that only processes request data to fulfil the response, and does not train on or retain any data.<h3 id="d2pxi8d05o7" data-toc-id="d2pxi8d05o7">What happens if I enable “Help improve Kin?”</h3>In order to improve Kin, it’s important for us to understand it’s behaviour. If you enable “Help improve Kin” (under “Your Kin”), we will log the requests and responses send to the LLM. The logs cannot be linked to identifiable account information such as email or phone number.This data is analyzed by an AI and interesting behaviour is flagged, such as when Kin was not able to answer a question, an error happened or a user reported an issue with an answer. The flagged logs can be access by selected engineers on the Kin engineering team. The logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

How does Kin handle my data?

To save important messages for easy access later, you can use the bookmark feature. Simply long-press on any message in the chat to add or remove a bookmark. Once bookmarked, you can view or manage your saved messages in the "Settings" section under the bookmarks area.

How can I bookmark messages, and where do I find them?

You can export all your data from Kin at any time, allowing you to create a backup and restore it whenever needed. Kin supports data portability, giving you full control over your data. To back up your information, simply use the export feature found in the "Settings" menu, where you can download and take your data with you whenever you choose.

How can I back up my data?

It also shows you your Kin User ID, and thr total size of Kin’s local memory store on you. </li><li>To export Kin’s store of your personal data, select the Back up Your Data option from this section, and choose the storage solution of your choice. </li><li>This data can be used to restore your Kin’s current memory of you on a different device, or after wiping your present one. </li></ul><div data-type="horizontalRule"><hr></div><h3 id="w2smai1tq0t" data-toc-id="w2smai1tq0t">Step 9: Delete Kin’s Full Memory</h3><ul><li>Kin’s memory can also be deleted from the Data Control section of the Settings tab.</li><li>Simply tap the red Delete Kin button at the bottom of the tab to do so. </li><li>Kin will warn you about this, as if you’ve not backed up the data yourself, we do not hold any version of your data that can be used to restore it for you. This deletion is whole and permanent. </li></ul>

When you switch voices, Kin will play a snippet to let you hear the voice you selected.</li><li>By accessing the Your Kin tab again with the back button in the top left, you can select the Speaking to Kin option to control what system Kin transcribes your voice.</li></ul><div data-type="horizontalRule"><hr></div><h3 id="61podwz6kmy" data-toc-id="61podwz6kmy">Step 3.
