Kin's Memory is your data and the essential component that makes Kin useful to you in particular. It's owned entirely by you, so you can export it whenever you want.

Why back up?

Because Kin stores Memory on your device, it's important to create backups. If you delete the app, lose your device, or switch to a new phone, there's no way for Kin to restore your data without a backup file.

How to create a backup

  1. Open Kin and go to Me
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Data Control
  4. Select Back up your data
  5. Choose where to save the backup — either on your device or in cloud storage like Google Drive
  6. Keep the file safe!

How to restore from a backup

  1. Open Kin (complete onboarding if it's a fresh install)
  2. Go to Me → Settings → Data Control
  3. Select Restore your Kin
  4. Select your backup file

⚠️ Warning: Restoring will overwrite any current data in Kin's Memory on your device.
